1970s: Keeping up with the times

Equality for women, high inflation, a property boom/bust and the after-effects of war in South-East Asia were all on the agenda.

The Bank also continued to evolve – such as appointing the first female branch manager.

Although returns on some of the fund’s investment assets were understandably lower during this uncertain time, members were protected by the Bank continuing to contribute to their accounts. It was also during this era that investments in land and buildings began.
